One of Asturias's classic walks, half an hour from the house. The path climbs the Xanas gorge cut straight into the rock, with tunnels, walkways and stretches hanging over the drop.
At the top you come out onto the meadows of Pedroveya, by its church, with the gorge below. The return is a loop: through Dosango and down a country track to the valley again.
A little history
The path was cut into the rock in the mid-20th century to connect the hamlets of Pedroveya and Dosango with the Trubia valley, which until then were cut off by the gorge.

Getting there
By car
A good half hour from the house, up the Trubia valley. It starts at the Molín de las Xanas picnic area, by the road.
Before you go
- There are vertiginous stretches, with wooden posts in some places and ropes fixed to the wall in others. Not for anyone with a fear of heights, nor for children who are not used to mountains.
- It is nine kilometres with over four hundred metres of climbing: three to five hours.
- The Senda del Oso starts a few minutes away: you can do both if you set off early.
