A greenway that leaves Oviedo through the Parque de Invierno and follows an old railway branch line: hazel, oak and birch woods along the Gafo river, the old La Manjoya station and several railway tunnels, the longest 260 metres.
It is nineteen almost flat kilometres to Trubia, following the Nalón in the later part. The best part is the return: there is a train from Trubia station back to Oviedo, so with children you do not have to ride back.
A little history
The route is the old railway branch line from Oviedo to Fuso de la Reina, turned into a greenway. From Fuso, it continues on a paved track to Trubia.

Getting there
Without a car
Bus to Oviedo and a short ride or walk to the Parque de Invierno, where the greenway starts. Back by train from Trubia.
By car
Ten minutes to the Parque de Invierno. If you plan to come back by train, leave the car in Oviedo.
Before you go
- The regional tourist board lists the bike rental shops in Oviedo on its website; some have children's bikes, child seats and trailers.
- The tunnels are long: put a light on the bike in case one is dark.
- You have to cross the odd local road, so take care with children.
