Ribadesella's town beach: a long curve of sand where the Sella meets the sea, with the promenade and the town's houses behind it. It is the other beach in this guide you can reach without a car, by train from Oviedo.
It is designed for everyone to use: there is assisted bathing with an amphibious wheelchair and adapted crutches, and the council runs it under a tourism quality certification. Anyone who has canoed down the Sella finishes right opposite.

Getting there
Without a car
Train from Oviedo to Ribadesella. It is slow and there are few a day, so check the timetable before you set off.
By car
Almost an hour from the house, along the Cantabrian motorway.
Before you go
- The tides leave stones on the sand and in the bathing area, sometimes buried: the council itself recommends water shoes or flip-flops.
- There are weever fish in the sandy bottom. The sting hurts a lot and is treated with very hot water; the lifeguards know it well.
- Ask the lifeguards for the amphibious wheelchair.
