A circular walk along the Carreño coast that follows an old railway line: tunnels cut through the rock, clifftops and paths down to coves such as Carranques, Madrebona and El Tranqueru, as far as Xivares beach.
It starts and ends at the Ciudad de Vacaciones de Perlora, a mid-20th-century holiday complex by the sea that is worth a stroll in itself.
A little history
The greenway follows part of the route of an old coastal mining railway. The Ciudad de Vacaciones de Perlora, where it starts, was for decades where thousands of working families spent their summer holidays.

Getting there
By car
About thirty-five minutes from the house, towards Candás. Park at the Ciudad de Vacaciones de Perlora.
Before you go
- A stretch of the old path by El Tranqueru beach is closed because of rockfalls. The official route avoids it by climbing through Dormón: follow it and do not go into the closed section.
- It is ten kilometres with some hills: three to five hours at an easy pace.
