A big, open beach at the mouth of the Bedón river in Llanes, with the northern sea rolling in unchecked. The council rates it as high risk for swimming, and the people in the water are the surfers.
You come here to walk the sand, watch the waves and sit at a seasonal beach bar. Close by, next to the river, stands the Romanesque church of the old monastery of San Antolín.

By car
Just over an hour from the house. Leave the motorway at Naves; there is a car park by the beach.
Before you go
- This is not a swimming beach, and that is not a figure of speech: it is exposed to heavy surf.
- Barro, calm and with lifeguards, is five minutes away for anyone who wants a swim.
